Switching from Scoutmate or Rank N' File to ScoutSoft


Former Scoutmate and Rank N' File users can convert to ScoutSoft simply by emailing us with proof that you were a currently licensed user prior to either of them discontinuing their BSA Certified ScoutNET software. You will be able to switch to a new ScoutSoft 1 year license free. Simply email us at scoutsoft@scoutsoft.net with your request to convert to ScoutSoft.

Conversion Steps to ScoutSoft

1. If you have not currently uploaded your unit's ranks and merit badges to your council's internet advancement website then sign onto your software package and upload to the BSA Internet Advancement webpage all of your ranks and merit badges earned to date. Then sign onto the website again, load the unit roster and click on the Unit Advancement Summary button on top left of the screen. Save the PDF file to your computer's download folder/directory you use for downloads. You will use this file to import the ranks and badges into ScoutSoft.

2. Download and install ScoutSoft Software.

3. Importing into ScoutSoft - In ScoutSoft click on Maintenance/Load Data into ScoutSoft. Highlight BSA Internet Advancement Report and browse for the .pdf file you created from the BSA Advancement Website and import the information.

Switching from Troopmaster to ScoutSoft


ScoutSoft can download your scout's ranks and merit badges from your Council's Internet Advancement website or from the Troopmaster Unit Advancement History report. All current users of Troopmaster can switch to ScoutSoft for half of the first year's annual 1 year license fee! Simply email us at scoutsoft@scoutsoft.net with your request to convert to ScoutSoft. Remember that ScoutSoft also runs native on MAC and Linux which Troopmaster does not!

Troopmaster Conversion Steps to ScoutSoft

1. Download and install ScoutSoft Software. If you Sponsor membership is computerized you can import you membership into ScoutSoft or you can downlaod your unit's membership and leaders from your council.

2. Conversion Option 1 - If you have not currently uploaded your ranks and merit badges to your council's internet advancement website then sign onto your software package and upload to the BSA Internet Advancement webpage all of your ranks and merit badges earned to date. Then sign onto the website again, load the unit roster and click on the Unit Advancement Summary button on top left of the screen. 2. Conversion Option 2 - In Troopmaster create an Unit Member Advancment History report which includes all scouts. Save the report to a text file. Sign onto ScoutSoft and click on Maintenance/Load Data Into ScoutSoft and click on TM Text Report and browse for the text file and import it.
